Children are never responsible for the actions of their parents. Despite the war in Syria, the three children of Bashar al-Assad had a good holiday in the summer of 2017. They spent several weeks in a holiday camp in Crimea, in this Ukrainian territory annexed by Russia in 2014.

Hafez (16), Zein (14) and Karim (13) stayed at Artek, a former Soviet-era pioneer camp. Recently renovated for 120 million dollars, this leisure center (a hundred hectares) welcomes children from 8 to 17 years of all nationalities. In addition to young Russians or former republics of the USSR, Artek also welcomes French, British or American teenagers (the countries that bombed Syria this weekend) eager to practice the Russian language and live “a strong experience, “as the official brochure boasted.
Learn “respect for others”

“It was a trip that allowed them to better discover Russia,” Bashar al-Assad told a delegation of Russian parliamentarians who then proudly sold the wick. One way to illustrate the excellent relationship between the two countries. With Iran, Russia is indeed the main ally of the regime of Bashar al-Assad and allowed him, on the ground, to win many victories for four years.

This trip has been kept secret until then for obvious security reasons. The director of the center himself was not informed of the real identity of these residents a little particular. Opened in 1925, this legendary camp rewarded the children of deserving workers and apparatchiks in Soviet times. It has two swimming pools, private access to a beautiful beach on the Black Sea and many football and volleyball courts. Children also benefit from science, drawing or music lessons. With one objective: to learn “the respect of the other”, explains the official brochure of presentation of the center.
